Thinking about getting a computer game job? Here is a list of words you are going to encounter every day.
AI: Artificial Intelligence. Programmers use this to make the computer players appear intelligent.
3D Studio Max: 3D software used by most game artists. C++: A popular programming language used to make many computer games
CS: Computer Science Degree -- this is what most programmers get
CE: Computer Engineering Degree -- combines CS and electrical engineering.
Scripting: Combines programmed componants to do a scripted task such as control game characters in a cutscene. Maya: 3D software used by game studios and in the movie industry.
MMORPG - Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game -- examples: Everquest, World of Warcraft, Ultima Online.
Mesh - The wireframe of a 3D model.
Skin - 2D image (either digital painting or photograph) which is overlayed onto a mesh to create a 3D model.
Mobile Games - Rapidly growing market for cell phone based games has opened new oppurtunities to small video game makers. |
